Comics Forum 2016

Genre: A Conference on Comics

Leeds Central Library, 3rd – 4th November 2016

Genre has played an active role in shaping our understanding of comics, be it as a term to describe the medium itself, or the stories that they tell. Comics may support and adhere to the conventions, styles, and effects of a given genre, or they might redefine and challenge its definitions and boundaries through their form and content. Comics Forum 2016, the eighth event in the annual conference series, will consider a wide range of subjects relating to comics and genre.

Confirmed keynote speakers: Hermann (winner at Angoulême 2016, and creator of Jeremiah, Comanche, and The Towers of Bois-Maury, amongst others), and Professor Anna Madill (University of Leeds).

Registration: Click here to register for this year’s conference.

Programme: Click here to download a PDF of the conference programme. Please note that this is a draft version of the conference schedule, and the final programme is subject to change.

Supporters: Comics Forum 2016 is supported by: Thought Bubble, Dr Mel Gibson, and Molakoe.
